Congratulations if you have purchased your first pair of mens alligator shoes. You know that these fine exotic skin shoes are hand made by the price you paid and the quality that is impossible to ignore. Now is the time to know how to care your new alligator shoes. Like anything that is worth cherishing, learning how to take care of them is very important so these fine hand made alligator shoes will last for years and years with proper care. You will need a few items for these fine skin shoes to properly care for them like a set of cedar wood shoe trees, neutral color shoe polish and a shoe shine brush kit.

You've just made your impression in style by wearing your alligator shoes for the first time and got all sorts of compliments which was a serious ego boost. Who Knew? Now that you're home you don't want to just chuck these dress shoes into the closet and be done with them if you want them to look their best and last for years. The first thing you need to do to properly care for them is wipe them off with a damp rag. If there is any dirt caked on the shoes, you will need to take a stiff brush and gently brush off the dirt before you wipe them down. Get the rag wet and then ring it out as hard as you can until no more water can drip out of it. Now you're ready to wipe your alligator shoes properly. After thoroughly wiping the shoes down, it's time to dry them off and put your cedar shoe trees in them to let the shoes come back to their original shape. The shoe tree does two things that are very important for fine dress shoes and that is to absorb the sweat moisture from wearing them and deodorizing them as well since cedar is a natural deodorizer and setting the shape on the shoes back to how they were when you first took them out of the box. Chances are that the box they came in came with flannel shoe bags for storing them. Put them back in the shoe bags and even back in the shoe box and you'll keep your fine hand made alligator shoes dust free and clean as a whistle.

After you have worn your mens alligator shoes several times, you may notice that the luster might be fading a bit. That is where your neutral color shoe polish comes into play. After first wiping down your shoes completely, take some shoe polish with an old tooth brush and gently and lightly apply the shoe polish all over the upper portion of the shoes. You don't want to put it on too thick. Less is more as they say. After letting them sit for a few minutes, it is time for buffing the luster back to it's original luster. Get that shoe shine brush out and start your buffing in a rhythm like fashion. Now for best results, I recommend that the cedar shoe trees are installed so the wax will be put on as even as possible and the buffing will also come out better than if they weren't installed. When the trees are installed in the shoes, the leather uppers are stretched tight and makes for a much better result. After you're finished, just the put the shoes back in their flannel bags and store them as before and they will be ready to wear in their intended purpose.
