So you got yourself some nice new Mens Linen Outfits
from ContempoSuits.com but you're not really familiar with linen so you don't know how to take care of it. Well, what I always tell my Customers year after year is this, Read the Label. Yes that little tag thing that may be either inside the collar of the shirt or on the side seam of the shirt. Usually with Linen clothing there is always the option of having your dry cleaners take care of them. If you kind of get tired of that approach because, let's face it. It's expensive going to the cleaners. Your next approach for taking care of Linen clothing is right in your home washing machine. First turn the settings on your washing machine to cold water and only cold water to wash linen. If you use hot water, that size extra large linen shirt will soon be a small. Next look for the gentle cycle option on your washing machine. The gentle cycle is for all types of finer fabrics such as linen. It doesn't beat the you know what out of your linen clothing because the agitator doesn't move in such an aggressive manner like it usually does. It moves nice and slow and doesn't twist up your clothing like the normal cycle does. Next make sure that your washing machine is on the least amount of time for washing like let's say about 10 minutes. That is all the time you want your linen clothing in the washing machine for.
After the wash cycle has completed, immediately remove your linen items and either lay them flat and smooth out your wrinkles in them or you can smooth out the wrinkles and hang them up to dry. After they have dried you can now get ready to iron them. Now I hope you have a decent ironing board and iron. First thing you do with the shirt is the sleeves and collar. Lay them flat and smooth them out the best that you can and you can either spray them with a light mist of water or if you prefer the more crisp look that they looked like when you bought them, you can use spray starch or Sizing as it's called. Give it a light spray and press it flat with your iron. Next step do the same thing with each panel of the body of shirt. Start with one front side and press and work your way around the body of the shirt until you are finished, then you do the pants. Now the thing to keep in mind is wrinkles, don't worry about them because linen fabric is made to wrinkle and will start to wrinkle immediately after wearing your linen outfit. It's just the nature of linen fabric and lends itself to it's casual nature. The Sizing or spray starch will help in keeping the linen crisper, longer so use it if wrinkles bother you. Plus, it does give the linen fabric body to stay it's shape. If shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes to press your linen outfit once you know how and look how much money you saved on dry cleaning in the process. Now you're linen outfit is ready to wear again.
