Measuring for a Zoot Suit

Whether you happen to be shopping for a Zoot Suit for men, Dress Suit, Business Suit, Tuxedo, or Church Suit. One thing remains the same. Measuring for a suit is always the same. Once again you need your trusty cloth tape measure. The first thing you need to have someone do is measure your chest with your arms down. Got the measurement, Good.

The next thing you need to do is measure your waist. It never ceases to amaze me how many of my customers don't know their exact waist size. Thank you Chips and Dip. Usually if your body is in proportion, you should choose your zoot suit by your waist size. If you happen to be larger on top you will need to go by your chest size and will have to get your zoot suit pants waistband taken in. It is always easier to fix the waistband and cheaper than doing any Modifications to the zoot suit jacket body.

The next thing you need to know is your height. If you are no taller than 5'5" you will need a short cut suit. The next and most popular cut is the Regular Cut zoot Suit. If you are Six feet tall or taller you will need a long cut suit. Primarily the different cuts will reflect the sleeve and body length of the suit jacket as well as the length of the pants before hemming.

Now if you are a serious weight lifter you may have problems getting a proper fitting suit because suits are cut for traditional bodies and not for extra huge shoulders and chest and backs. If that is the case, you will be spending some money at the tailor having them properly fit your suit to you. With a little know-how, measuring for a zoot suit is not as hard as you think.
