Everyone knows the old famous adage "Everything that lives is born to die". We have to face fact that all of us at some point in time will be the focal point at a funeral. It's just how life is. Every culture has its ways of preparing and dressing for funerals. In most Western cultures black is a color worn by all, men and women alike. Men wear black funeral suits and women wear black dresses to a funeral. In eastern culture such as China, they wear white funeral suits to honor those loved ones who they had lost. Since we are talking about Funeral Suits, we will focus on what kind of suits need to be worn to a funeral.

Remember, this is a solemn occasion and not a wedding or party. When dealing with a Western style funeral, as mentioned before, you need to wear a black color suit. You want your black suit to be basic and clean in style. Stay away from fancy shadow stripes if you can and just go for a solid black suit to be worn at the funeral. Single breasted and traditional length coat is preferred. Like I said, unless the deceased is mentioned in his/her will. Try to stay away from fashion style suits like zoot suits unless specified. This is a funeral, remember?
Now, the next item is a clean unadorned white dress shirt with no fashion trimmings on it and a black tie. It can be a solid black tie or have a muted pattern on it for respect of the deceased. Last but not least, black dress shoes and please make sure they are nicely polished and don't look like they need to be buried. Everyman should have their black funeral suit sitting in the closet just in case of this emergency situation arises because let's face it. A funerals are usually an emotional event and the less you need to prepare, the better off you are, so keep that black funeral suit at the ready, clean and well covered in a suit cover you'll be ready at a moment's notice and not scrambling trying to find a funeral suit.
