The first thing that needs to be learned is that all men's suits are sized by the Jacket which is denoted by the chest size first and foremost. Suits will come in three standard lengths which are called Short, Regular, and Longs. People who need a suit in a short are generally 5'5" or shorter and will need a suit that is both shorter in the sleeves and body of the suit jacket. A man who wears a men's suit in a Regular is usually 5'6" to 6'0" and are the most common size. The next size is the Long which are for men who are over 6'0" tall. There are Extra longs which are for very tall men as well.

The next thing that needs to known is that a standard suits come with what is called a six inch drop which refers to the waist size difference in regards to the jacket size. For example a size 42 inch suit will generally come with a size 36 inch waist which is a six inch drop from the jacket size. In most instances this is the norm for suit sizes. Of course people coming in all shapes in sizes this may not work for you and the waist may have to be taken in a couple inches if you are slightly larger up top in comparison to your waist. If your waist is larger than the jacket size that your suit will come with that may be a problem. You may be able to get away with having the waist taken out a bit or You may need extensive tailoring done to the jacket to make it smaller for your torso. Worse case scenario is that you will have to shop for suit separates where you can choose the individual jacket size and the pants size. The men's suits we sell all come in the basic size six inch drop. There are also so called athletic cut suits which will come with a eight inch drop but those are also not the easiest to shop for and get a reasonable price.
